My Favourite Art

Last week I went to Art Gallery of NSW for an excursion and it was really a good and new experienced for me. I saw there lots of Traditional and Contemporary arts by Aboriginal people. Although, all of them impressed me, I like the Warlugulong art most by Clifford Possum Tjapaltjarri and Tim Leura Tjapaltjarri. It is a Contemporary art and physical property is 2D. For this art artist used synthetic polymer paint on canvas. The main reason for liking this art is story. This is a story of two brothers who caught a Kangaroo and ate it. Since they were hungry, they did not share it with other people. When their father knew about that he became angry and made a fire in the jungle to kill them. Then storm and flood came and washed them away. The another reason is dot points on the canvas that how Aboriginal people expressed their unspoken language and dream story by using these. If anyone looks closely, it is noticeable that in the middle of the art there is a fire and then some footsteps of two brothers. On the right hand side there is also some two brother’s skeletons, shown against background representing smoke and ashes. Aboriginal people normally use three colours for painting but here artist used more than three colours and maintained the simplicity of the art. The above prospective view of it is aerial view.

Reflection about twitter from week 8

In week eight, I opened an account on twitter for the first time. Before I have not had any

idea how to use twitter, and how it can help me in academic research. But after

attending EAP week eight computer class, I have gained a lot of knowledge about these. Twitter

is mainly an online social networking service designed to help people to get

information for academic and social life. With the help of twitter’s ‘follow’ option I

can follow anyone and other people can follow me too. So it is really a good

opportunity to connect with colleagues, teachers and other people related to my class

matter.  But if I do not want to be followed, I can block them to limit my followers for

academic purposes only.

Twitter let me post whatever I like by using embed tweet option within 140 words.

At the time of tweeting I can add link so it can re-direct anyone, who clicks on it, to

the original page. Therefore, it gives us the chance to share the knowledge with

classmates and friends. With the help of URL shortening services, it is easier to make

longer web-address shorter that can give information about the source of information.

As any post on twitter comes up with link, it has the potential to help research,

publications and conversation. I also learned how to secure my account with the help

of privacy option. Hence, no one can be able to hack my account. Hash tag is another

important aspect which uses to categorize and make tweet more visible. So we can get

related tweets from different users that will help each other to get information for

assignments and so on. With more feeds coming through everyday, in many ways

they are useful in daily life.

Reflection about email from week 3

Before week 3 computer class, I have not had much knowledge of using computers, my use was

limited to the basic thing. Even I did not have any idea how to secure my email password. 2-step

verification is one of the important aspects of securing password that I have learnt attending my

week three class. It prevents unauthorized access to anyone’s email account. Every attempt I

make to access my email asks me to provide the six-digit verification code sent via

SMS to my mobile device. Hence it is much easier to maintain the privacy.

Besides 2-step verification, email protocol and blind copies are also important. Email

protocol tells about the salutation and the way email subject should be written.  Now I

know how to write an email with appropriate subject and salutation. Like me most of

the people don’t want to let others know their email address when it comes to sending

bulk or group email, and this issue is solved by Blind copies.

Regarding writing more than one page assignment, option available on Microsoft

office such as Header and Footer could save my time in inserting my name, date and

page number. Instead of putting those in on every single page, I can easily do it in one

go by using Header and Footer option. This is all I have learnt in week three. I

hope I will learn many more things useful in the days to come.
